Sabeer Bhatia, the man who popularised email, after a spate of disappointing ventures, has come up with a new venture called Blogeverywhere.com.He claims it will revolutionise the blogging world just like hotmail changed the face of emailing.

According to a news article

"The software lets you blog anywhere and everywhere and anybody with the same software installed can read what you've written and Sabeer being Sabeer, he knows how he's going to make money.

The software is a toolbar that sits below the address bar in your browser and when you go to hotmail it starts downloading email."

The toolbar hasn't been launched yet.As far as I know it isn't up anywhere on the net.The world right now has atleast 27.2 million bloggers and about 1 billion internet users.Bhatia claims that blogeverwhere.com will allow those remaining 970 million users to blog with just the click of a button anywhere on the world wide web.Interesting concept. We will have to wait and watch.

As for more information you can visit here and here.

Update:-You can now download the blogeverywhere toolbar from Here.Rashmi Bansal writes an interesting article on the blogging world as a whole and also on why blogeverywhere.com may eventually fail to take off.

How the hell did the Americans vote for a buffon like him?

Guess Bush is upset that he didn't get a chance to talk first

 "You talk too much Manmohan"

"Hey Laura,I found myself Indian girlfriends"

As Bush was being feted by the Indian government, protesters were venting their ire against "greatest terrorist in the world"(Mr Jyoti Basu's words)

A friend calls me after 3 years. After the initial pleasantries he makes a request(I knew this was coming). As we both belonged to mechanical engineering,he wanted a favour. As my department was conducting its annual technical symposium he wanted me to get him a participation certificate for paper presentation. He hadn't submitted any paper for review nor did he have any intention to.All he wanted was a certficate that would aid him for his placements.

What should have I done?

Take the moral high ground and tell him that I can't do this favour(I am still suffering from RDB hangover).Nepotism is a major problem plauging this country and I didn't want to be party to it.I represent this country's youth that our elders are proud of and wouldn't do anything to belie their belief in us(Ofcourse no one will no,but even then).

Or

Forget all this uprightness nonsense and try my best to get him the certificate. After all he was my friend and what's wrong in helping him with his career.

It's been six days since Bird flu was found among poultry in our country. The incident took place in Maharastra but the repercussions were felt throughout the country.Within a day people all over our country stopped consuming chicken and eggs.Well the decision was quite warranted. No one was interested in taking a risk.Better safe than sorry. As always our media pounced on this story and tried to bring us all the info they could get about this disease. We had news stories about the myths and facts of this disease. If this wasn't enough they even had news-stories on the decline in the prices and consumption of chicken. All this was fine and quite commendable. After all people had to know about this.

But what I found perplexing was that none of the news channels posed the question as to how Bird flu came to our country(atleast not to my knowledge).I know there is this theory that flu came to our country through migratory wild birds.Well that's fine for other countries like France,Turkey etc where wild birds were found dead. But that was not the case in our country. In our case it was the poultry owned by an individual that was found infected. The chickens weren't some wild birds roaming around that came in contact with migratory birds to get infected. These were birds that were privately held and were being reared for eggs and meat. How did they get infected? This is a question that probably ornithologists could answer. But sadly the electronic media hasn't brought in these experts to the studio.

In a related development, couple of months ago I had read an article written by proverbial animal activist Maneka Gandhi in tehelka. While I had discarded it as a figment of maneka's imagination, the arrival of bird flu in our country made me take a second look at it.The article is extremely interesting and the theory proposed seems radical but quite expected.Quoting it here would prolong my post and hence I will give you all a link to the same.

I request you all to kindly go through this article and tell me your opinion about the same.
